Frequently Asked Questions
Account Support
I logged in to my account, but I don’t see my child’s forms. What should I do?
You may be logged into the wrong account. When attempting to log into Avela, use the Account Lookup feature to confirm you are using the correct login method (email or phone number). Instructions can be found here.
What should I do if my account information cannot be found using the Account Lookup feature?
Make sure your name and home address are entered exactly as they were when the account was created. If your account still can’t be found, do not create another profile. Email [email protected] and ask for assistance with finding your existing account.
I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
I didn’t receive the email verification link when attempting to reset my password. What should I do?
Eligibility Criteria
Does my child have to be a certain age to apply?
Yes. For the 2026-27 school year, your child’s birthdate must be between September 2, 2021 and September 1, 2023. Your child must be three or four years old by September 1st of the school year to be eligible to apply.
What if my child is too young to apply?
Sign up for our email interest list to stay in the know about upcoming key dates and schools you’re interested in.
Are income requirements based on gross income or net income?
We use gross income to decide if you qualify. Gross income is the total amount your family earns before taxes or other deductions are taken out. We require proof of income at the time of application.
Does receiving subsidy funding affect my child’s eligibility to attend Bezos Academy?
No. A child’s eligibility to attend Bezos Academy is not affected by whether a family qualifies for or receives child care funding. Click here to learn more about child care subsidy.
Application
Can I apply to multiple Bezos Academy locations?
Yes. If you apply to more than one school, you will be able to rank them in order of preference, with #1 being your top choice.
If I have more than one child, do I need to submit a separate application for each one?
Yes. You must submit a separate application for each child. All applications should be submitted using the same family account.
Is the Bezos Academy application available in other languages?
Yes, the application is available in the following languages: Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Hmong, Khmer, Korean, Pashto, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, and Yoruba.
After you log in, choose your preferred language in the top right corner of the page (click here for instructions). If your language is not available, email [email protected] for support.
Waitlist
How do I check my current waitlist position after the lottery runs?
Log into your Avela account here to view your child’s current waitlist position. It will be displayed on your homepage next to the school’s name.
Why did my waitlist position change?
Your waitlist position can change over time. As new applications are submitted or as families make enrollment decisions, this can shift waitlist positions up or down.
What is the likelihood of my child being offered a seat from the waitlist?
We can’t say when or if a seat will open. When a student leaves the school, we offer the spot to the next child on the waitlist. Keep checking your waitlist status in Avela. If a seat becomes available, the Enrollment team will contact you right away.
Admission
Will my family be charged a fee for attending?
No. Bezos Academy is fully-subsidized, which means that the preschool is free of charge to eligible families. Each Bezos Academy also provides materials, supplies, and meals for students at no cost to families.
Does my child need to be toilet trained?
We ask families to make every effort to ensure their child is toilet trained by the first day of school. Toilet learning expectations may vary by location based on childcare licensing requirements.
Once my child is enrolled, do they keep their seat the following school year?
Yes, but only if your child is age-eligible and your family meets all program expectations and submits all re-registration requirements on time. If you miss the deadline, your child will lose their seat for the next school year.
Does Bezos Academy accept children with special needs?
Yes, Bezos Academy welcomes and supports children with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and all applicable local, state, and federal laws. We will make reasonable modifications to our Montessori preschool program to accommodate children with disabilities.
However, we can only provide accommodations that do not fundamentally alter the nature of our educational program or pose a direct threat to the health or safety of any child or staff member. We conduct individualized assessments and work closely with families to determine appropriate accommodations within our program. If a child’s needs cannot be reasonably met within our Montessori environment, we will provide information about external resources that may be able to offer additional support.
Lottery
How long will I have to accept my offer at Bezos Academy?
You have five business days to accept your offer in Avela. If you do not accept by the deadline, your offer will be revoked and the seat will go to the next family on the waitlist.
How will I learn if my child receives an offer in the lottery or is waitlisted?
You will get a message by email or text (the communication method you chose in Avela), with the lottery results by 5:00PM PT on May 5, 2026.
What happens if I apply after the lottery date?
We will review your application and send you the result by email or text within three business days. If a seat is available, you will get an offer. If the school is full, you will be added to the waitlist in the order you applied.
Are seats awarded on a first-come-first-served basis?
Prior to the lottery, the date that you submit your application will not affect your chances of gaining a seat. All eligible applications received before the school’s lottery date will be entered into the lottery. After the school year has started, if seats are available they will be offered on a first-come first-served basis.
If siblings apply during the lottery, will both receive an offer if one is selected?
Yes. If both children apply to the same school in the same lottery and one is offered a seat, the sibling will also receive an offer if a seat is available. If the last seat goes to one sibling, the other will be placed at the top of the waitlist.
Siblings include full, half, step, and foster siblings who live in the same household.

Does Bezos Academy enroll children that attend less than five days a week?
